When I interviewed Billie Eilish, I realised this
why some people have a presence about them
Hey Climbers, today —
Why do some people just have this presence about them?

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Billie Eilish had an inexplicable presence about her
Back in 2020, when I interviewed Billie Eilish, I was struck by something:
She had this presence about her.
It’s hard to put into words, but maybe you’ve experienced it in someone you’ve met before:
Some people just have an allure. A quiet confidence. A way of being that makes the room feel like it’s gravitating around them, without them demanding that it does.
Apparently Marilyn Monroe had it too, and she could turn it on and off. Legend has it she’d ask… “would you like to meet her? Would you like to meet Marilyn?” and then she’d suddenly become the kind of person cars slow down to look at on the street.
But what is it? What is this presence? I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this question:
They’re living in a alignment with their glimmer
Your glimmer is the spark you feel when you’re engaging in something that lights up your soul. It can feel like a wiggle in your chest, or an intense focus. Your glimmer is your clue to what makes you unique - we often ignore it. But if you’re tuned in enough to listen to it, and pursue it, it gives you access to a deep well of confidence which spills out into your interactions.
They’re not trying to impress or appease
It’s not that they’re not agreeable - often they are. But it’s that they don’t cater their body language, responses or beliefs to the person they’re speaking to. This is actually really rare in a person. Billie didn’t speak just to fill a silence, or laugh if she didn’t find it funny.
They’re curious
These people are curious to their core. They genuinely want to listen more than they talk, because they care more about satisfying their curiosity than crafting your perception of them. The thing is, you can’t fake curiosity. But you can develop it.
They lean into their unique thing
There’s nothing more vulnerable than being rejected for being yourself, which is why so few people truly attempt it. But to develop this presence, you must identify your uniqueness, and lean all the way into it. If you want help finding your unique thing to stand out as a creator & personal brand, you can book a 1hr, 1:1 personal branding audit with me or apply for my 90 day program, Cringe Mountain Academy.
CREATIVE INSPO OF THE WEEK
The Rawdog flight simulator
You know the ‘rawdogging a flight’ trend, where people opt not to don’t drink, eat, listen to a podcast, watch a movie, look at their phone or talk to anyone for the entire flight? Just stare forward? Like the world’s saddest NPC?
Well, someone made a rawdog flight simulator. Where you can rawdog a flight without being on a flight.
It is absolutely pointless, stupid, and terrible. And that is why I love it.
Enjoy!
Until next time
Keep climbin’
